the future of labs

2012

We expect to see research and development groups as part of universities and technology companies. But since when did newspapers and cultural institutions have R&D labs? Eyebeam Art and Technology Center invites researchers, creative technologists, journalists, and leaders working within these R&D labs to join us on June 12 for a private event. Each group is welcome to share the work and vision of their lab through short presentations, informal discussion and pizza. We'll discuss the role that R&D has in these companies, the reasons the labs began, what they are trying to address in their work, and how they are affecting the direction of journalism and media (and how your office MakerBot is contributing). Our interest is in creating a platform for larger conversations and future collaborations within this new research community.
